Three antique smugglers arrested in Bamyan

Three antique smugglers were arrested in the central Bamyan province, according to a press statement issued today, Sunday, February 28.

The national security forces arrested three antique smugglers in possession of antique artifacts at Eqrabat checkpoint in Bamyan.

Bamyan police have taken many valuable artifacts from the smugglers who wanted to trade.

An investigation by the crime investigation department of Bamyan is underway, the statement said.

Located in the central highland of Afghanistan, Bamyan is famous for its two giant ancient statues of Buddha which were dynamited by the Taliban. The city is one of the oldest in the region.
