As many as 24 people were killed and 32 others wounded in a suicide bombing in Charikar, the capital of northern Parwan province, Qasim Sangin, a staff of the provincial hospital confirmed.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle in the entry of a military training center around 11:40 AM today, September 17.
Sangin further said that the death toll may jump as some of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition. He added that a woman was also among the dead victims of the bombing.
Initial reports, however, said as though the incident had taken place close to the place where the campaign rally of the State Builder ticket was held.
Meanwhile, Nasrat Rahimi, the spokesperson for MoI, said that those who had t part in the rally were safe.
Hours later, another explosion targeted a facility of the Ministry of Defense in PD9 of Kabul city, according to Rahimi.
Issuing a statement, the Taliban took responsibility for the two suicide bombings and claimed that dozens Afghan forces were killed in the attacks.
