Airstrike kills 12 Taliban militants including two commanders of group
14 Taliban militants including two commanders of the
militant group, were killed in an airstrike carried out by foreign forces in
Bala Morghab district of the northwestern Badghis province on Friday night,
September 21, according to local officials.
Talking to Kabul Now, the province governor, Abdul Ghafoor
Malikzai confirmed that Abdul Aziz and Mohammad Gul, the two Taliban
commanders, were dead.
He said the Taliban militants have suffered heavy casualties in recent month across the province.
According to the governor, the Afghan defense forces, backed
by foreign forces, were prepared to ensure the safety of the upcoming
presidential elections in the province.
The northwestern Badghis province is restive.
